The Purple Peace, The Purple Peace "X"tended

Goal in Art

My goal in Art is to continue painting and learn more about the history or Art and different styles.

Short Term Goals:
I plan on painting at least 3 to 4 times a week this summer.
Watch paint tutorials on YouTube and focus on technique.
I also want to visit a few art museums and get my children involved with learning because both of them love art and seem to have a talent for it,
My biggest desire is mastering color composition and shadowing. I am obsessed with getting detail color down.

Long Term Goal:
I plan to continue with my short time goals. I also want to invest in more supplies.
I want to audit a drawing class and painting II.
Learn to use the iPad more with manipulating my painting before I start or in the middle so I can limit my obsessive need to overdraw or overdue a painting.

Medical Ethics

This painting was formed with Henrietta Lacks in mind. My goal was to create a tree of life because essentially she was the tree of life. There is a certain sadness that comes out of this painting almond with the horror and trauma she was exposed to. Although, this is my least favorite painting because it did not turn out how I wanted it does seem to represent the conflict, pain and horror of all Mother HeLa endured and then the abuse of the cells that continues till this day.

The sketch below was inspired by and is a tribute to Ms. Henrietta Lacks.

The Jungle

This is my favorite piece. It is my first experiment with pouring paint. I created the texture first and then poured the paint. As seen in the first picture, I loved the color composition that was developing but it left me feeling incomplete. I then was inspired to fill in the white space. I used spray paint, salt, metallic paint and markers. My first impression of this painting after it was finished was a beautiful jungle. It appears to come to life on its own and everything just came together well; color, texture and aesthetic sensation of the beautiful jungle.
